Every day has them. Some more than others.
For me, January has been a month of many extra details.
Details for our son’s wedding – including what to wear to all the events!
Details for settling our home – arranging and rearranging… and rearranging.
Details for the initial stages of planting a church – meeting people and learning how to get from Point A to Point B in a city of 6 million!
Extra or mundane, details are details.
God has purpose in every one of them. He doesn’t miss a thing. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10.29-30)
How do you tackle the ordinary day details?
Alone?
Or with God?
The details in life provide opportunities to see God’s glory.
The more we invite God into the details, the more we see Him in the details.
We see His glory. We see Him go before us. We see His protection.
We’re reminded that He’s really right here. With us. In us. To lead.
This month, every time I tackled details alone, I stressed and grew grumpy.
Partnering with God, His peace prevailed.
Our children watch us.
Even if they don’t live with us anymore, they observe us through what they hear.
How we handle our ordinary details teaches.
Dear God,
Help us seek and see Your glory in the details of our ordinary day! Amen.
