A Prayer As We Begin The Year

img_1041

Holy God, You are good, always. You love me with a steadfast, everlasting love. Your mercies toward me are new every morning. Again, I experienced this with you every day of this past year. Thank you.

Thank you for laughter and fun, for stretching and growth, for challenges and accomplishments, for cherished loved ones and for new relationships, for your help, protection, healing, and encouragement. Thank you that you are my Hope.

In this past year, you were with me in every moment—even when I wasn’t present to you. You know all that my heart has recorded . . . I release to you every hurt, every sadness, every disappointment, every discouragement, every hard experience. Wash my heart. Fill these places with your healing love.

Shine your light on grudges or resentments I may harbor. With your grace and power, help me admit and give these to you. Please fill these emptied places with your love.

I invite you to lead me in this new year. I commit my heart and living to you. I need you, your love and guidance. In each day’s moments—whether happy, sad, exciting, or stressful— help me draw closer to you. Grow me to be more present to your presence and to trust you in all things. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
